Curb painting questions, answered

Everything people usually ask before booking. If your question isn’t here, just send it to us.

The basics

What is curb address painting?

It means painting your house number on the face of the curb in front of your property, in large black numerals on a white background, so that it can be read from the street.

Why would I need it if my house has a number?

The number on your house can be hidden by trees, a porch, poor light or distance. A curb number backs it up where drivers are already looking.

Do you do special designs?

No. We only paint black numbers on a white background. We don’t paint names, logos, artwork or colored curbs, and we don’t do parking or traffic markings.

Pricing

How much does it cost?

It is $100 per curb. Multiple curbs get a reduced rate, and we confirm your exact price by email before any work begins.

How do I request painting?

Fill in the request form. It takes about a minute: just your name, email, address, how many curbs you have and whether your number is already painted. We follow up if we are able to complete your job.

Is there any obligation?

None at all. Sending a request doesn’t commit you to anything until you confirm the job.

Will you paint my curb without asking?

No. We only paint after you send a request and confirm the price.

Do I have to get a curb number?

No. It is your choice. It simply makes your house easier to find.

Can I paint it myself?

You can. Stencil kits are sold online. We handle the cleaning, the white base, straight and evenly spaced numbers, and the cleanup, so you don’t have to.

Painting day

Do I need to be home?

No. We just need access to the curb. You can leave any instructions on the form.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No, we handle the cleaning and prep. All we need from you is a curb clear of parked cars on the day.

How long does it take?

A single curb is normally one visit. Larger projects are scheduled in phases.

What if it rains?

We need a dry surface, so we reschedule if the weather is against us.

Do you paint in winter?

It depends on the temperature and the forecast. We will tell you what is realistic when you book.

Paint and durability

How long does the paint last?

We use exterior-grade paint, but lifespan depends on plows, salt, sweepers and traffic at your location, so we don’t promise a fixed number of years. When it fades, we can repaint it.

Why only black on white?

It is the highest-contrast combination, and it is the easiest to read at a glance. Keeping to one standard also keeps a street looking consistent.

Can you paint over an old number?

Yes. We prep the surface and repaint it with a new base and numerals, whoever painted it originally.

Permission and rules

Is it allowed where I live?

Rules for curbs differ between New York City and the many towns and villages around it, and an HOA or landlord may have rules too. Send us your address and we will look at what applies before we schedule anything.

Do you need my HOA’s approval?

If your community requires it, yes. We can provide what your board needs to see. Read about community programs.

I rent. Can I still get one?

Check with your landlord or property manager first. We are happy to send them the details.
